International Conference on Pragmatics and Translation
Call for Papers
The International Conference on Pragmatics and Translation (ICPT) will be held at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), Guangzhou, China, on 12-14 December 2014. Organized by Center for Translation Studies GDUFS, and sponsored by some academic journals such as Asia Pacific Translation and Intercultural Studies(Routledge), Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages, Shandong Foreign Language Teaching Journal and Journal of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, ICPT aims to bring together scholars, students and practitioners from China and other countries for an academic exchange. We will invite leading scholars in the field of pragmatics and translation to deliver keynote speeches on various topics. Interested scholars are welcomed to submit abstracts to the conference.

The main topics to be covered include, but not limited to, the following:
Relevance, Adaption, Meme and Translation
Pragmatic competence and translation competence of the translators
Borrowed words and pragmatic translation
Pragmatic translation strategies
Pragmatic issues in corpus-based translation and machine translation
Pragmatics, Chinese cultural heritage and translation
Abstract submission:
Abstract for a 20-minute presentation should be submitted to gwyantaihui@163.com in electronic format (word).

Normal rate: 800 RMB, or 150 USD
Students: 400 RMB, or 75 USD
