On29th May, the three-day 16th National Symposium onScience & Technology Translation was officially opened at Shanghai.Prof. Mo Aiping, director of Center for Translation Studies of GDUFS, and Prof.Huang Zhonglian, full-time researcher of the center, attended and addressed the symposium. During the conference over 200 representatives from across China had intensive discussions and exchange of ideas on the theories and practice ofsci-tech translation, the cultivation of Chinese science & technology translators and how to serve the society with sci-tech translation.

The conference,themed under The Status quo, Mission and Prospect of Science &Technology Translation in the Era of Globalization, was sponsored by Science and Technology Translators Association of China, and hosted by Shanghai University of Electricity Power. Prof. Li Jiachun and Prof. Ye Xingguo from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Fang Mengzhi, honorary editor-in-chief of ShanghaiJournal of Translators, and Prof. Hu Kaibao, dean of School of ForeignLanguages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered keynote speeches respectively.

The three-day symposium also saw a wide range of discussions on the following topics: science & technology translation theories, quality of sci-tech translators, aesthetic value of science & technology translation,diversified research and practice of sci-tech translation.
